UNION CITY, IN -- Larry E. Varvel, Sr., age 82 of Union City, IN, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN.
He was born on January 22, 1942 in Xenia, OH to the late Vernon and Amanda (Butts) Varvel.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Sue Varvel; siblings, Junior, Eugene, Patty, Barbie, William, Dick, Virgil, James, Curley, Raymond, Ruthie, Loretta, Marie, Hazel, Betty.
He is survived by his children, Faith A. (William) Garland, Diana L. (Frank Burkey) Dahlstrom, Wanda (Todd Anderson) McNew, Larry E. (Amanda) Varvel, Jr., Teresa J. Varvel; god daughter, Kendra (Matt) Sias; grandchildren, Jessica, Celeste (Bobby), Kyle, Hayley, Kellylouise, Russell, Blake, Jasmine Marie, Jeremy (Bridget), Krystin (Mike), Brieanne, Josh, Kaybre, Codee, and Kaylee; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Aero Plastics in Three Rivers, Michigan. Larry attended Arcanum High School. He loved watching Atlanta Braves baseball, horse racing, and playing cards. More than anything, Larry loved spending time with his family and everybody being together.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Greenville Union Cemetery.
