Anthony Giacalone Obituary

February 9, 1919 - December 19, 2009
Tony passed away at Little Sisters of the Poor in San Pedro, CA at 90 years of age. Tony was born in San Diego, CA and moved to San Pedro with his family at an early age. He served in the Navy during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines. He returned to San Pedro and married his childhood sweetheart, Angelina, they were married 47 years when she passed away in 1993. They had one daughter, Susan D'Orazi. He was a commercial fisherman for a few years, and then opened his own fish market in San Pedro on Pacific Ave. Later he became a carpenter and retired from that occupation. He loved to work in his shop and make a lot of woodwork pieces. He loved to go fishing and passed the love of fishing to his daughter, granddaughter and cousins. He was very outgoing and loving, no one was ever a stranger to him. He will be missed by all who have come into his life. He left behind his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ted D'Orazi; grandchildren, DeAnn Medina and husband, Jaime; Andi Pixley and husband, Doug; and Tony D'Orazi. He also had three great-grandchildren, Dominique D'Orazi, Siena and Quinn Pixley. Also his sister, Mary Holden and husband, Richard of San Pedro; and brother, Jim Giacalone and wife, Maryann of Torrance. A memorial service will be held at Little Sisters of the Poor Chapel on January 5, 2010 at 11:00am at 2100 Western Avenue in San Pedro, CA 90732 (310) 548-0625. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, where he happily lived his last years. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
