Anthony "Ante, Tony" Rodin

1913 - 2010

On June 3rd, Anthony (Ante, Tony) Rodin surrounded by his family and loved ones peacefully entered into the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He was born October 11, 1913 on the island of Prvic Luka in Croatia. He arrived in America in 1935 and chose a vibrant career path as a cook, fisherman and longshoreman. Although he had many more talents, the sea was his one true passion. Lacking a formal education, he was self-motivated and achieved the American Dream for his family. The values he stood for have been passed on to his family. He was preceded in death by his former wives, Phyllis Krajac, Antica Cace and beloved sister, Ann Laus. He will be greatly missed by his five children, Joseph Rodin, Ronald Rodin, Janice Rodin-Schiring, Donna Mae Rodin (Arnie) Hvitfeldtsen and Christina Rodin (David) Atwater. His legacy lives on with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Deborah (Rodin) Lopez, Amy Hvitfeldtsen, Joseph and (Jennifer) Hvitfeldtsen, Erik Hvitfeldtsen, Anthony G. Rodin, Andrew Rodin, Emily Rodin, Deven Atwater, Garrett Atwater, Michael Lopez, Ava and Nicholas Hvitfeldtsen. We would like to thank the caregivers and friends who loved and supported the family: Ricardo Gallardo, Ana and Victor Rosales, Alma and Faruk Halilbegovic, Joe and Jennifer Hvitfeldtsen, Miguel and Claudia Hernandez, Trudie Lowery, Dr. Peter Sliskovich, Meri Andabaka and Susan Zerna. Viewing will be at Green Hills Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Burial services will be at Green Hills Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the scholarship fund at the Dalmatian American Club of San Pedro.
