Dear Tanner Family,
My condolences. I was very saddened to hear that Chuck had passed. He was one of the first kids that I met in San Pedro after arriving here from Norway in May, 1949, we often played cowboy and Indian together and listened to
radio programs like "Straight Arrow", "Sky King", "Gang
Busters", and such. That was when the Family lived on
Barbara Street in the Palisades, close to grandparents',
the Peale's Market, which is now called The Corner Store.
When the family moved to Miraleste, there weren't many
houses there, and I would sometimes visit Chuck and we
played in the canyons, catching lizards and snakes. Those
are fond memories, and I'm sorry that I didn't see more of
him in our following years.

Oh, JoAnn, I am so sad! I first met Chuck in the 5th grade at Miraleste. I know how difficult this is now for you and for your large and wonderful family. All the love and support you all are receiving now can't fill the void, but please know we all care very much. Love you all.

This is such a shock. I last worked with Chuck in 2009 but it seems like yesterday. We have kept in touch when job opportunities arose. You spend so much time with those you work with you get to know them as a sort of family. JoAnn, he often spoke of how much you meant to him. Peace be in your heart until you see him again. May your family also except my condolences. Your in my prayers.

My cousin, Chuck, was a wonderful man, loving father and avid outdoorsman. He loved his family dearly and, I am sure, will be waiting for them when they, too, make their transition to the next level of existence. He loved nature and showed the earth and its inhabitants respect and compassion. He was a courageous man, but also kind and gentle where appropriate. He was both intelligent and spiritual, a combination I particularly admire. He was a great friend, and I will miss him. I trust we will meet again. Until then, I will remember him in my heart, pray for his family and that he will be comforted in his new and better surroundings. Buck Tanner
