Geraldine Cecelia Cunningham

Geraldine "Gerrie" was a native Californian born to George and Margaret Akey, and spent many happy years growing up with her older sister, Eve. A graduate of George Washington High School, she then completed her Associate of Arts Degree in Music from City College of San Francisco in 1947. She met her beloved husband of 59 1/2 years, Jared "Jerry" Cunningham while they pursued their careers in Hawaii, and were married in 1956. They moved to Torrance in 1961 and joined nearby Saint Lawrence Martyr (SLM) Parish, where they were life-long members, forming many deep and lasting friendships. She sang in the SLM choir and was very active in Marriage Encounter, and Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults. Gerrie had many gifts and talents. She was an excellent administrative assistant and honed her skills while working for Pan American Airlines in Hawaii, and throughout her life. She was first and foremost a very caring and loving wife and mother of her four children. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Jerry and children: Christi Cunningham; Colleen Cunningham; Steven (Marcelo) Cunningham; Timothy (Claudia) Cunningham; as well as by her grandsons Michael Crespi and Matthew Crespi. Her funeral Mass will be on Nov. 6, 2015 at 11 AM in SLM Church http://www.stlm.org and the reception will immediately follow in SLM Hall.
