I am a longtime friend of Greg´s. His Mother Margie and my Mom, Dolores Wyatt-Villa were best friends for years. I am so saddened to hear of his passing. We went to school together, Lake Gregory, Catalina to name a few. Family friends as long as I can remember.
My condolences to his wife and family. May he Rest In Peace.

The Tuna Industry has always produced a cast of characters that would put a Dickens Novel to shame... From the 12 inch cigar smokers in the classic cars , The Casanova lady killers, the bar room boxing champions, guys with nicknames like El Diablo , Slick , The Duke.. Diamond Nick and a never ending supporting cast with names like Sam the Nose and Jerry the Jew... It's been a story of men who made fortunes and those that lost their homes and dreams.
Throughout all the Story ,there has always been a foundation, a core group of individuals that each generation in this industry produces that keep this business worth being in. That core group keep the embers of this industry lit. These are the people that are mostly behind the scenes : Honest, Caring, loyal, HARD WORKING individuals that started this Industry and some still remain to
pass it on .. But they are fewer and fewer.
Greg Stewart in my book has a SOLID place in the proud history of this Industry and the story of the essential people that Support the vessels , crews and owners.
Greg Stewart was a shining example of the best of people who have been the story of the U.S. Tuna Purse Seine Industry.
I will sorely miss Greg and the type of Man he represented in this business.
Greg , you're a tough act to follow, but hopefully the example for all of us still left behind.
Honesty . Integrity ... Embers that still need to stay lit.
Thanks for the Trust and help my friend..
I'll never forget it.

So many wonderful memories at Uncle Ray's and Aunt Margie's cabin. We have enduring memories of you, my brothers , and I sitting by the fireplace joking & laughing, ridding our inner tubes in the snow, walking in the forest with you, Greg. Having fun Christmas time dinners at your home with your nice family. Always your beautiful smile and laughter lit up our lives. It showed the light of your kind inner heart. Rest in peace, Greg, and in God's wonderous enduring Love.

I think the obituary pretty much summed up a really nice person who made this world a better place in which to live. Proud to call him my friend. ""Greg will be dearly missed, especially for his kind heart, generous spirit, optimism, and his smile." Amen

Greg was a life long friend from San Pedro and good person in many facets. In all the times I was around him, he was always upbeat and displayed a great smile for all to enjoy. Greg, you made the good times even better. RIP good buddy.
