James O'Rourke Obituary

Jimmy to his friends, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008 in Torrance, CA. Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, James was 64 when he died. James, a Vietnam Veteran, served 20 years in the Air Force. He continued to work in the aircraft industry spending nearly 20 years as an aircraft mechanic. He enjoyed his work, but loved his life, which he spent with many close friends and family. James could be counted on to lighten any mood and bring laughter to any room. He made friends easily and often. He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and generosity. He is survived by daughter, Katherine O'Rourke of Sacramento, CA; brother, Jack O'Rourke of Philadelphia, PA, and brother, Robert (Sandy) O'Rourke of Pasadena, CA. Preceded in death by parents, Bertrand and Marjorie O'Rourke; sister, Peggy Bibeau, and brother, Billy O'Rourke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Association. We will be celebrating Jimmy's life Thursday, October 9th at two of his favorite places. The celebration begins at 2:00 pm at the VFW on N. Catalina Avenue in Redondo Beach and moves to the Thirsty Club on Artesia Blvd. in Redondo Beach. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

I first met Jimmy when I worked in SFOEA in 1990. We both overhauled hydraulic components there. In 2001, we were reunited once again when I was transferred to LAX. Jimmy was a great guy. From one Irishmen to another, you will be missed and may god bless.

Dear ORourke family,
We extend our deepest sympathy to you at this sad time. Jimmy was our son's roommate where he lived in Torrance. Jimmy was so friendly to us when we came to visit. He enjoyed his life and I know he will be missed by all.
Sincerely, Andy and Ann Chorbi
