Malcolm Sharp Obituary

Malcolm Schalick Sharp died Monday, January 22, 2024 at home in Worthington, Ohio after a five month battle with pancreatic cancer. Malcolm was born in 1950 in Philadelphia, PA to Harriet Schalick and C. Edward Sharp and grew up in Centerton, and Somerville, New Jersey, and Memphis, Tennessee. He attended the University of Mississippi and Memphis State University. Through mutual friends, Malcolm met Wayne Steele, who he married in 1975.

Malcolm worked for 20 years at the University of Southern California. He also served as a Trustee on the Palos Verdes Peninsula Education Foundation and served as its President for one year. In 2005, he was elected to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Board, where he served three terms. Malcolm is survived by his wife Wayne, his son Ben and daughter-in-law Alyssa, his son Will and daughter-in-law Tatiana, two adorable grandchildren.

A celebration of Malcolm's life will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. Peter's by the Sea Presbyterian Church, 6410 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes.

Contributions in his honor may be made to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute or Palos Verdes Peninsula Education Foundation.
