Marc Leh Obituary

Marc K. Leh

After ten years of battling lung cancer, Marc K. Leh succumbed on January 24, 2015.

Marc was born November 14, 1930 in Portland, Oregon. In 1935, his parents and sister, Barbara L. Maxwell moved along with young Marc to Southern California where they built their home in Pasadena, California.

Marc graduated from South Pasadena San Marino High School in 1949. He graduated from Menlo Junior College in 1951 and was a member of Menlo's 1949 championship football team. He received his Bachelor of Art in 1953 from Stanford University where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.

Upon graduation, Marc was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, serving in Japan and Hawaii. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Marines in 1956, Marc had an import business from Germany and South America. In 1957, he became a member of the Los Angeles Bachelors Club.

In 1958, Marc married Johanna Boyle (Stanford University, Class of 1957). Together, they bought a home in San Marino and had two children - Marc B. Leh and Jennifer L. Carson. During this time, Marc joined The Valley Hunt Club and The Tournament of Roses. In 1960, he took a position with Aerojet General. In 1963, he and his family moved to Bethesda, Maryland where he was a Washington D.C. representative for Aerojet. He belonged to the National Aviation Club and Bethesda Country Club.

In 1968, Marc and his family moved to Palos Verdes Estates, California where they bought a home. Marc was the Manager of Aerojet's Los Angeles office until 1971, when he resigned from Aerojet and joined Paine Webber in Rolling Hills Estates, California as a stock broker. In 1988, he moved to Wells Fargo Advisors. Marc was a Vice President of Investments at both firms. He retired in 2005.

While living in Palos Verdes Estates, Marc was active as a Little League Manager for six years and with girls' soccer. He joined the Palos Verdes Golf Club in 1969, serving as Vice President for two years and on the Board of Director for three years. He was the captain or co-captain of the PVGC Men's Thursday Team for many years. Marc also belonged to Catalina Island Men's Golf Club.

Johanna and Marc had three grandchildren from Marc B. and Justine G. Leh - Marc S. Leh, John B. Leh and Kylie W. Leh.

Marc enjoyed skiing, both water and snow but his real passion for many years was golf with a group of men he played with at PVGC. He also liked cooking and reading. Johanna and Marc traveled a great deal, visiting all seven continents, including three times to Africa and numerous times to Europe and extensively throughout the United States. He was an outspoken conservative. He regularly attended the Neighborhood Church in Malaga Cove since the mid 1980's.

Marc is survived by his daughter, Jennifer L. Carson; his son and daughter-in-law, Marc B. Leh and Justine G. Leh; his three grandchildren, Marc S. Leh, John B. Leh and Kylie W. Leh; and his sister, Barbara L. Maxwell.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Marc K. Leh will be held on February 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm at The Neighborhood Church, 415 Paseo Del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates, CA. Reception to follow.
