I knew Matt for only 2 short years, while I was on the USS Georgia. There was never a dull moment around him. There was always a smile, always a joke, and always a good attitude. Time underway didn't seem quite as long with him around. I'll miss you brother.

I had the extreme pleasure of working with Matt during my tour on the USS GEORGIA. Not only was your son involved with operations in the nuclear power plant, but he also volunteered to handle weapons for me in the Torpedo Room. He was one of the best weapons handling members I had on my team! I am truely sorry to hear of his passing. My condolence to your family, I will always remember his professionalism along with his smile and great sense of humor.

I met Matt through my husband. All of us were roommates untill my daughter was a bout a year old. Matt always made laugh. He had nothing but a kind and giving heart. He was always talking about his family and some of the wonderful memories he had. Matt taught me an awesome recipe for a cheesecake, which I dont know how he had the patience to make it, since it took forever. That was Matt though Kind, giving and patient. He spent holidays and birthdays with us, he saw my daughter in the hospital, he helped me take care of my daughter and my husband after my husbands knee surgery. I could go on forever about Matts kindness. We missed hearing from him for these past two years and it breaks our hearts to know he has passed away. My thoughts and parayers are with his family through this tough time.

(Sweaty Betty)you will be missed!! God will be with the Dixion family.
I am Chief Pete. I served with Matt on the USS Georgia. I was not just his boss but a friend. Many a midwatch did he keep us awake telling stories, jokes, or just being himself. He was always happy and jolly, you had to try to get him upset. He has many friends in the Navy who will miss him greatly. He had no enemies. He was an excellent technician, administrator, and operator. Most of all he was just a great guy both on the sub and off. Mom and Dad take pride in the fact that Matt will not be forgotten, and he made a great impact in many, many lives while serving his country. I will say an extra prayer for you all. Sincerely, Chief Pete.

I worked with Matt on the Georgia. We stood a lot of watch together, had a lot of fun. I hope he got to watch some of the movies he had on his list he made that underway, I think there were close to 700 on it. He stayed with me before he transfered out to Hawaii, we had a pretty fun time, watchin' movies, played a lot of video games. It was a fun week. He did this awesome impression of this guy on the boat, we called it the "Chap-Zilla". I hope you got to see it, hilarious. Lots of memories comin' back, all good, Matt was an awesome friend and a wonderful man. Always a happy guy to be around. My thoughts are prayers are with you all during this sad time.

I also served with Matt on the USS Georgia, and the world will be a darker place with his passing.

He was always quick with a joke to lighten the long days a travel undersea - take comfort in the fact that he did make a difference both in the lives he came in contact with as well as the defense of our country.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dixon,
I am Chief Hospital Corpsman (Submarine Service / Fleet Marine Force) Kelvin Harris, I am the Medical Department Representative for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. I worked with your son and was with him when he received the devastating diagnosis. The strength and courage that Matthew exhibited during his time with us in Hawaii was that of heroes. We as military men and women never know how we will truly react in the face of danger, but I think that he displayed the character, courage, and strength of a warrior and that he had all the inner fortitude of a hero. I am honored to have served with him.
