Milivoj Grandov

1935 - 2010

Milivoj Grandov passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010 in the company of his caring wife, Milivoj, ending his long courageous struggle with laryngeal cancer in his San Pedro home. He was born on July, 7 1935 in Sali, Croatia. Milivoj was educated in cabinetry design and construction. At age 22, he fled his homeland on a small row boat to Ancona, Italy. He was later relocated to Sidney, Australia where he quickly adopted various trades and proudly awaited the arrival of his new bride. While in Sidney, Milivoj became one of the founders of King Tomislav Croatian Club. He moved with his family to Canada where his voice filled the Hrvatska Katolicka Zupa Srca Marija in Vancouver. Milivoj finally came to San Pedro where he worked many years at Todd Shipyard as a stage rigger. He was a strong man and will be remembered by those he touched for his honest nature, beautiful singing voice, and artistic talents. He was a kind husband, loving father, and loyal son and brother. Milivoj is survived by his wife, Vesela; children, Kristina, Dorotea and Angelka; brother, Josip; and sister, Slavka. Visitation will begin on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. and the rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary in San Pedro. A funeral Mass will be offered in Sali, Dugi Otok, Croatia at the Crkva Sveta Marija (date and time TBD). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Milivoj's name to Crkva Sveta Marija in Sali, Dugi Otok.
