Millicent Ross-Clunis Obituary

Millicent Marie Ross-Clunis

Millie, daughter of Edgar and Loretta McCormick was born March 12, 1945 in Seattle, Washington and raised in Yonkers, NY. Millie passed away November 6, 2014 in Torrance, CA of complications from ovarian cancer. Millie was preceded in death by Thomas Stephens. Before his passing they enjoyed a full and happy life in Manhattan Beach, CA. Millie is survived by her brother, Philip McCormick; cousins, relatives and many friends. Milllie had a long career in textile design at Lorber Industries from 1984-2006. This was followed by a shorter work history at Chemtex. Her early adventures included sailing and sidecar competition. Millie's interests included travel, photography, baking, earring design, theater and music of all kinds. She was an enthusiastic fan of LSU football and a prolific reader. She loved all animals but had a passion for stray cats, her most recent being "Mr. Slippers" and her beloved "Max." Those who knew her well remember her thoughtful, generous and endearing disposition as well as her artistic capabilities in all things. She will be missed by many. A celebration of life will be held at Rice Mortuary on Friday, November 21st from 7:00pm-9:00pm. The Service will be held in the Rice Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00pm. Blessings. I am looking to get in touch with Philip McCormick, brother of Millicent. I have a packet of letters from their Mother, Loretta, to my grandmother, Greta. They were good friends in Yonkers, NY, in the 1940´s. If anyone can help, please email [email protected].

Millie was a BEAUTIFUL human being. I worked with her at Lorber Industries and she was always so kind. I always got a creative "charge" visiting with her.

I am not sure if I submitted my message or not. If not...here goes again. I worked with Millie at Lorber Industries from 1989 to 2006. I have such fond memories of her and my visits to her in the Art Department. She was such a talented, kind, gentle and interesting person. I am forever grateful for thos memories. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Shine on, Millie! I worked with Millie at Lorber Industries from 1989 to 2006. I always loved to visit her in the Art Department. She was always so kind and was such a lovely and down-to-earth woman and an amazing artist to boot. I am grateful to have those memories; I look back on them fondly. I actually still have a beautiful scarf she gave me one year for our X-mas gift exchange. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family/survivors.
