Nancy Baumgartner Obituary

Nancy Louise (Eaton) Baumgartner

Nancy Louise (Eaton) Baumgartner of Orange, CA, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on November 19, 2015, after battling multiple health issues for over two years. Nancy was born May 26, 1934, in Los Angeles, CA, to Evelyn and Earl Eaton, attended St. Anselm's Catholic School, and graduated from Bishop Conaty High School in 1952. After a semester of college, Nancy went to work for the L.A. Department of Water & Power. Around this time, Nancy began dating Thomas E. (Tom) Baumgartner, who became the love of her life. The couple were married on November 26, 1955. In April 1956, Nancy and Tom moved to Torrance, CA, where they raised their five children and lived a life filled with faith, family and friends. Nancy and Tom were founding members of St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church in Redondo Beach, were very active in youth baseball and softball, and were members of the Western Stars square-dancing club for many happy years. When Tom was transferred to the Bay Area in 1987, they moved to Pleasant Hill, CA, and after Tom's retirement moved to the city of Orange in 1993.
It has been said about many people that their family is their life, and this was never more true about anyone than it was for Nancy; everyone was welcomed into her home with open arms and a warm smile. Even during the lowest points of her health issues, Nancy would brighten up whenever family or friends came to visit, and her sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile would warm everyone's hearts.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her sister, Mary Eaton and brothers, Michael Eaton and John (Maureen) Eaton. She is also survived by her five children and their families: Steve and Kim Baumgartner [Hilary (Greg) Ross, Michelle Baumgartner and Allison (Evan) Shaw]; Tim and Julie Baumgartner [Kevin (Desiree), Laura, and Tricia Baumgartner]; John and Ann Baumgartner (Alexandra, Scott and Tommy Baumgartner); Kathy and Andy Marafino (Brian, Brendan and Nicole Marafino); and Christy Voorhees (Michael and Nate Voorhees); her three great-grandchildren, Zach, Will and Aubrey Ross; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and other relatives, all of whom Nancy loved dearly.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 27th, at Shannon Bryan Mortuary in the City of Orange from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with the recitation of the Rosary starting at 10:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange at 12:10 PM. Interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nancy's name to St. Lawrence Martyr School or Bishop Montgomery High School.
