Patricia Hightower Obituary

Patricia Ann Hodge Hightower

Our dearest "G.G." passed away in her home of 62 years in San Pedro, California, on April 14, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. Patricia Ann Hodge Hightower, also known as Pat, Grandma Pat, Gaggy, GGMP and GG, was born on February 14, 1924, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Arthur Henry Hodge and Wilma Irene Shank, who along with her brother, Robert Wayne Hodge, preceded her in death.

Patricia was very protective and proud of her family. She was a patient wife to her husband of almost 60 years, Bob Lott Mayo Hightower (also deceased), and a devoted mother to her sons, Steve and Jeff. She was an extraordinary grandmother to Amber, Cecily, Joshua and Sarah, and she adored her great grandchildren, Dina, Drisana, Lexie, Gavin, Mila and Phoebe. She shared a close relationship with her daughters-in-law, Karen and Carol, as well as with Carol's sister, Cathy Elizabeth Olson, and her husband, Michael Olson, and their boys, Steven, Kevin, Matthew and Nicholas.

Patricia lived a full and joyful life. She had a sharp wit and an excellent sense of humor that kept everyone in stitches. She was passionate for poodles and purple and anything with butterflies. She was an avid reader and expert at crossword puzzles. She was also an accomplished seamstress and knitter, making gorgeous dresses for her granddaughters; her Halloween costumes were always a hit, and every newborn baby received one of her precious creations. Patricia adored all kinds of music. She cried at arias and crooned along with the standards. She even taught her grand babies to play the electric organ. She was especially proud to have been a Yellow Bird hospital volunteer in her youth; she spent much of her life caring for others. She enjoyed working at Bank of America as a teller for several years. She also loved to sketch, swim, dance and could still do a headstand well into her 60s! She appreciated a good scotch, and, later in life, a good ice cream drumstick.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Mayo Hightower (Karen Cecilia Hightower) and Jeffery Lott Hightower (Carol Ann Hightower) and her grandchildren, Amber Stephanie Hightower (Rodrigo Gonzalez) and their girls, Mila and Phoebe; Cecily Leanne Hightower (R.J. Rodriguez) and their children, Lexie and Gavin; Joshua Michael Hightower (Denise Hightower) and their girls, Dina and Drisana; and Sarah Elizabeth Hightower.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of grace, kindness, laughter, friendship, and love that her family will keep alive in our hearts and minds for generations to come. Please sign the guestbook, www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Hodge Hightower family. I hope you will find comfort in God's promise at John 11: 24 & 25. Knowing there is a future for those we have lost in death can be very reassuring during this difficult time
