I truly enjoyed his acting in Gunsmoke´s "Lost Rifle". I tried to find what he´d done afterwards in movies and/or TV and was amazed to find he quit after doing a few "Hazel"s. He was 3 years younger than me so I was also shocked to learn he had passed away.

Dear Paul, I know that today isn't the anniversary of your death. But I hope you won't mind if I place a memory here about a wonderful Actor who played your Father on "Hazel". Actor John Newton, who appeared twice on "Hazel" as your father, would have been Ninety-Six Years Old Today. You two were so good together, as father and son. My favorite scene was when the both of you were invited to The Baxter's home for lunch, in the Episode: "Them New Neighbors Is Nice", and you were crushing on Dorothy. It was funny. MAY YOU BOTH REST IN PEACE WITH THE LORD.

Dear Paul, As another year has past since you were called Home, I found out this past Summer that Actor John Newton, who played your Father on "Hazel", had past away nearly three years earlier, also in November. You two were great together, on "Hazel". I wish you two could have stayed on that longer. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.
November 5, 2017
Paul, I was thinking how Lovely It Would Be if all of Your Fans gathered up all of the Episodes, in as many shows that you appeared in, that we possibly can, and Watch Them In Honor Of You, Today. Since the Summer Of Last Year, I've Purchased Most Of The Comedy Shows that you Appeared In: "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER", "MY THREE SONS", AND "THE DONNA REED SHOW". I had Bought "HAZEL" 2 YEARS PRIOR. Unfortunately "MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY" has not been released, By The Season, for Purchase. That would round out "All Of My Collection". Whenever I think about You, I always remember You On My Favorite Earlier Sitcom: "HAZEL". You were such a Good Actor. You are missed.

I was recently watching some early episodes of THE SHOW: "HAZEL". I always liked Paul and was a bit surprises when I found outhat he was younger than his character. "DON" was playing a 16 years old teenager with a crush on an older woman, "DOROTHY". He was do cute in that episode. My favorite episode that he appeared in was "HAZEL, THE MATCHMAKER". THough he had less lines, he was still cute. I'm sad that he has passed away, as most of the Actors from that show has. But OUR LORD WANTED HIM IN HEAVEN, WHICH IS WHY HE IS THERE. MAY PAUL REST IN PEACE.

Just heard of Paul's passing. Paul was the best boss I ever had and someone I looked up to throughout my career. 1988-1992

Paul was a giver. He never had a cross word for anyone. He was a story teller with a great sense of humor and not afraid to laugh at himself. My boys and a few friends had the opportunity to be Paul's guests at many Radeo's produced by the Palos Verdes Breakfast Club.
Most years that we went Paul was cast as a woman (Paul was a handsome guy but had issues pulling off the female persona). I remember one year he was cast as Marlyn Monroe and was sporting the Big White Dress. He was especially convincing in his roll when his dress blew up into his face. A moment to never be forgotten.
Paul and I played football together at San Jose State. He was a player that always gave his all and I could always count on him to cover my back. He was very active in the Spartan Foundation in supporting athletics. He was also the Sky box coordinator for our group at Spartan Stadium.
Mary thanks for letting us have Paul during football season. You were not a selfish person. He is one of the greatest Spartans, we all loved him!

I will miss Paul very much. He was a great brother-in-law who always made me feel welcome. I will miss his stories that always ended with a lot of laughter. My favorite memory of Paul is at my sister Dot's wedding when he brought in a bottle of tequila to calm our nerves. He was happiest around family and his Mary. Love you Paul!

Paul was an amazing human being, full of love and enthusiasm
for life. His positive attitude was infectious as was his ability to find good in all situations. I know Paul was complete when he met and married Mary Lorenz, and was over the top with extra blessings of 3 beautiful daughters. I am sure he embraced his son-in-loves, and was overjoyed with being a grandpa. Paul was real, his heart was true to his life view, and his ability to give was amazing. I am sure he is dancing with the angels and looking down on his loved ones. I know his family feels the loss of a great husband, dad, grandpa, etc. I know I am so saddened by his leaving way too soon.

There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said! I wasn't around very much. Actually I was only around once in person, but because of Mary he made me feel like family. When I would call Mary I would always end the conversation with " hey to Paul"!! He will always be loved and missed incredibly.

To me, Paul was a giant version of my best friend, Whitney. He was Mr. Engle, always smiling and ALWAYS happy. His warmth and big bear hugs were the best part about visiting the Engle villa. One of my favorite memories I have of Paul is his speech at Whit's wedding. It was perfect and such a testament to him as a father.
Mr. Engle, we love you so much. You're always in our hearts

We met Paul many years ago when Mary brought him to see us while we're stationed in Germany. He came across to me as someone full of life who turned into a little kid when he played with our daughters. I knew then he would be great Dad. Over the years when we were together he was always the first to offer a beer, pick up the tab or be ready with a story. I heard many stories of his theatre group, golf and football buddies. They were always positive and ended up with him laughing with that slow deep voiced laugh of his. His best stories were always about Mary and his daughters whom he adored and was so proud of. We will miss you Paul, your life was way to short.

It's with heavy heart and sadness to write this msg for Mary & the girls. So much to say, but wanted you to know how sorry we are to hear the sudden passing of Paul. What great times we all had in the early 80's.First dating then we all got married around same time, having babies back to back. Lots of parties ~ Bbq's laughter, home dinners, babysitting each other kids, lots of photos & great stories were told. It was a fun group and the best of memories. What a gentle giant, just a great man...I remember his love for Mary and his beautiful daughters, a good family man. Our love
To you Mary ..

Paul was a true friend who you could always count on. He was a "Giver" to his family, friends, College, Spartan Foundation and the Palos Verdes Estates Breakfast Club. Paul was a story teller with a great sense of humor. He certainly wasn't afraid of laughing at himself. I and my sons and friends were fortunate enough to be invited by Paul to attend the annual "Radeo". It seemed like Paul was always being asked to play a female part.(For which he was not well suited). He did not make a very attractive Marilyn Monroe but did put his finest effort forward especially when his dress blew up around his head.
Paul, everyone at San Jose State who new you will miss you dearly. We all love you!

To me Paul was a "giant" of a man not only in stature but in heart. I worked with him for 30+ years at Royalty Carpets and found his compassion for everything he undertook was a sign of a true, dedicated soul. I will miss you Paul.

My Uncle Paul was the best dance partner I've ever had! His energy was exhausting but showed a zest for life! When I was little, I thought he was Hulk Hogan and a wrestler I love that man and am grateful Auntie Mary Lou brought him in to our family as well as my beautiful cousins. His smile and compassion will be missed but we're all lucky we got to know him. Keep my Opa in check Uncle Paul and watch over my Auntie and cousins-they are blessed to have u as a guardian angel. Much Aloha Uncle Paul-I love and miss you.

Paul, my mentor, my boss, my father, well he talked to me like he was my father and I answered like a son. He was a Viking, the strongest, smartest, hardest working and I loved him period. Hardest part is not being able to call him and hear his evaluation on whatever is a problem in my business. You can search the world over and not find a better man than this. Nothing or nobody can ever fill his shoes. I will miss you always Paul. Ed Benyo

Paul was such a force! His smile, energy, kindness (not to mention his Tommy Bahama shirts) and love of family will always be remembered! Through the years, he always showed these Oklahoma in-laws nothing but the most incredible hospitality on our visits to PVE. My heart is so heavy for Mary and the girls. What a legacy he left behind. I would say , "rest in peace, Paul" but I can't help but envision you organizing something or other up here! Until we meet again....

Paul was a great lover of life much like his dad Ed. He was so proud of his wife and daughters and always looked at the glass as half full. He could tell jokes for hours and always had something nice to say to everyone he met. This world was given a gift and now that gift will keep giving in all the memories we each have from knowing and loving Paul.
