Ray Vlasic Obituary

Vlasic, Ray (85)
of Long Beach, passed away on May 5, 2007 as he lived, with courage and dignity, in the calm quiet of his home and in the presence of his loving family. Ray was born in Vela Luka, Croatia. He immigrated to the US in 1959 and was joined by his family in 1962. The move to Long Beach in 1978 finally made him feel "at home". He was a man dedicated to his family and friends and whose love for music and his prized clarinet determined his fate and path in life on many occasions. Music brought him joy whether playing in the backyard for a family gathering or summer concerts in the park with the Long Beach Municipal Band, but never more so than when playing for his grandchildren, and most especially in the last year, for his great granddaughter, Jocelyn. Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Zeljka; son, Dominic; daughter, Franchesca; grandson, Christopher; granddaughter, Sasha; great granddaughter, Jocelyn; sisters, Ruza Oreb of Croatia and Franica Zuvela of Australia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, at 12:00 Noon at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Long Beach, 1-800-204-3131. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.Forest Lawn Mortuary
