Alice Brackney

Alice J. Brackney of Longmont passed away November 5, 2012 in Littleton, CO. She was 81. Mrs. Brackney was born on August 22, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN. to William Blaine and Mary Elizabeth (Lang) Monical. She was an Indiana farm girl and active in the girl scouts, graduating from Mooresville High School. On October 13, 1956 she married Robert E. Brackney in Brazil, IN. They moved to Longmont in 1993 from Boulder, CO. Early in life Alice was a secretary for GM and later became an executive assistant at IBM, retiring in 1989. Mrs. Brackney was a member of the Brooklyn Methodist Church of Brooklyn, IN., Longs Peak United Methodist Church in Longmont, Job's Daughters, Omega Epsilon Sigma Sorority, the Methodist women's group and the Hoe and Hope Garden Club. Alice enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, was a master bridge player and enjoyed skiing, fishing and traveling with her husband Bob. Mrs. Brackney was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert on August 9, 1997; and brother William B. Monical, Jr. Alice is survived by her sons D. Bruce Brackney; Mark D. and wife Sherri Brackney of Littleton, CO, brothers R. Duane Monical of Indianapolis, IN, James F. Monical of Mooresville, IN, grandchildren Matthew W. Brackney, Zack D. Brackney, Mary K. Bell (Brackney) and Kacey R. Pickard (Brackney), great-grandchildren Emma L. Swearingen and Reagan M. Ruiz, and by numerous nieces and nephews including Jeannie Moore of Longmont and Stuart Monical of Highlands Ranch, CO. Visitation will be held 4-6 PM Monday November 12, 2012 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment 9:00 AM Wednesday November 14, 2012 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Memorial service 11:00 AM Wednesday November 14, 2012 at Longs Peak United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
