Amy Jensen Obituary

Amy Carol Jensen was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2021, in Boulder Colorado after a brief illness. She was born on July 16, 1935, to Edwin Charles Shuttleworth and Amy Caroline Shuttleworth in Amsterdam, NY. Her education included attendance at Emma Willard School in Troy, NY followed by LaSalle Junior College in Auburndale, MA studying art and design. She married J. Douglas Jensen on April 20, 1957, in Amsterdam NY, residing in Ridgewood, NJ until their relocation to Boulder in 1970. Doug and Carol's 55-year marriage was a testament to true love. Carol will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt as well as a talented artist, knitter, and chef. Her infamous holiday meals and handmade greeting cards will certainly be missed by all. She was also known for her abilities as a tennis player, skier and as of late her many daily walks and her manicured gardens. She volunteered in many capacities at both First Presbyterian Church and Calvary Bible Church, also visiting nursing homes and working with the women's jail ministry just to name a few. She is survived by David (Rhonda) Jensen of Glenwood Springs, CO, Amy Wolf of Lafayette, CO, grandchildren Taylor Jensen, Landon Jensen, Elyse (Frederick) Beckman, great-granddaughter Olivia Beckman and her brother Dr. Edwin C. Shuttleworth II. Preceded in death by husband J. Douglas Jensen, brothers Allen B. Shuttleworth and Dr. David B. Shuttleworth. An 11 a.m. celebration of Carol's life is planned for Monday, July 19, 2021, at Calvary Bible Church, 3245 Kalmia, Boulder, CO 80301. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in her name to Calvary Bible Church or Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 (828-262-1980), samaritanspurse.org/donate. Carol and I were close friends while attending Amsterdam H.S. Even thou in time we went our separate ways, I will always remember her passion for life all about her, and for her cheerfulness and energy to live it in full. I have many fond memories of our times together. My condolences to her family.

I just found out about Carol's passing, and having missed the memorial service would like to post a tribute. Carol was such a dear person -- creative, fun, kind and sensitive. She was open and genuine -- the "real thing." My husband and I loved both Carol and Doug. They were a lifeline to us during a challenging time in our lives, when we lived in Boulder. Their friendship meant the world to us. We grieved the loss of Doug when he passed, and now we grieve the loss of Carol. But they are now with the Lord -- and together again.
