Deanna Sue Sample

Deanna Sue Sample, aged 77, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023 at her home. Deanna was born on April 11, 1946 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She lived in Colorado for most of her life. Her mother had a difficult birth and Deanna had to be delivered with forceps, she was predicted to never gain the ability to walk. During her school years, she was a notable participant in the Sharks swim team, the cheerleading squad, and competed in archery. She was also a member of a synchronized swim team. Later, she had a passion for sports cars, four wheeling, and enjoyed going to races with her family. She volunteered at the OUR Center, and was a victim's advocate at Safe House. With her pioneer spirit, she took on any problem or obstacle that stood in her way. Deanna was wise, always leaning on the word of God to guide herself, in turn she used her insight to guide others without judgment, always offering a word of wisdom, positivity, and encouragement. She was a lot of things to many people, but to her family she was the ultimate matriarch. She always put the needs of her family ahead of her own. Her qualities of trustworthiness, ability to listen, light-heartedness, dependability, positivity, and strength made her a best friend to all of us. To all, she was known for her generosity, witty nature, wicked sense of humor, and fiery personality. Her warm and welcoming personality drew people to her, making new friends everywhere she went. She had great love and compassion for animals as well. Her father Russell and mother Lucille passed away before her. Deanna is survived by her brother Steven Gruwell and his wife Lisa, her four children; William, Regina, Regan, and Racquel. She has 17 grandchildren; Westley, Lee, Colin, Elora, Kinsey, Aleah, Russell, Luke, Dillon, Hudson, Elise, William, Emma, Bradley, Adeline, Jessa, and an unborn grandson due in May. Her celebration of life will be held Saturday April 22nd at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home in Longmont Colorado. Deanna's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest in peace, Deanna Sue Sample.
