Erich Bussian Obituary

Erich Paul Bussian, 53, died on July 20 in his home in Durango, CO. Erich graduated from Boulder High School and received a B.A. from the University of Colorado. After roaming the globe for several years he enrolled in The Thunderbird School of Global Management and received a MBA. He then went on to earn a Masters degree in European History from the London School of Economics. Erich and his brother Peter grew up in the small town of Jamestown, CO where he attended the Jamestown Elementary School for six years. Erich's roots, regardless of the far away places his career took him, always remained in Jamestown. A born entrepreneur and creative visionary, Erich began his career working in international management and sales for companies such as John Wagner Associates, AOL, MapQuest/National Geographic and most recently as the CEO of Free Notes Harmony Park based in Durango. In recent years Erich used his business background to become a spokesman in environmental and social issues The plastic bag ban ordinance, his most recent vision, exemplified his aspirations in environmental sustainability. This ordinance passed in Durango a week after Erich's death. Erich is survived by his wife Mip Van Suchtelen; his children Peter Henry Bussian and Isabella Anehe Bussian; his father Dr. Alfred Bussian of Golden, CO; his mother Auguste Bussian Watts and step father John T. Watts of Jamestown, CO; his brother Peter Glenn Bussian and his wife Elizabeth of New York City, and his step daughter Nikki van Dam. A remembrance will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Jamestown Town Hall, 118 Main Street, Jamestown, CO.
