George was a terrific friend, a great mentor and an amazing person on so many levels. He taught many of us much about deep foundations and piles and, was so generous of his time to those of us involved in PDCA and DFI. He will be greatly missed and remembered long.

George changed the pile driving world. He was the father of wave equation analysis. He exposed the weaknesses of the air hammer and the strengths of the diesel hammer over the hydraulic hammer. His work made solved so many pile driving problems it would take a book to name them all. George taught me all I know about Peak Force. If it was not for him I would never know the different between a hydraulic hammer and a diesel hammer when it comes to peak force- a discovery that halted the rise of the hydraulic hammer over the diesel hammer. Any time you hear a pile driver making that blow by blow you are hearing the music of George Goble. He and I enjoyed saying "A Driven Pile Is A Tested Pile".

God Bless George
