She graduated from Whitman College in 1960 with a B.A. degree in General Experimental Psychology and from Tulane University with a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology with a specialization in Human Learning and Social Psychology in 1962. She worked in the field of pain management and biofeedback therapy. She enjoyed skiing, camping, hiking, fishing, knitting, and connecting with family and friends through the church. Some of her favorite times were at Ring Lake Ranch, horseback riding, taking walks and participating in seminars. She also worked closely with and participated in several expeditions for the Christian Peacemaker Teams where she also volunteered. She often made gifts of her knitting and sewing, and she always gave the gifts of joy and light to everyone she met. Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents Philip and Ione Briegleb. She is survived by her husband Rev. Dr. Richard (Dick) Williams, a son Alex Timmermans (Lynne), two grandchildren Spencer and Julia and two stepchildren Richard C. Williams (Pam) and Donna Williams (Steve), and a sister Kathy Barton and niece, Avon Hanson and nephew, Fred Child. A Celebration of Life ceremony will occur on Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at Boulder Mennonite Church. The service will also be broadcast over Zoom. Details can be found on the Boulder Mennonite Church website. Donations can be made in her honor to the Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT.org), Boulder Mennonite Church, or Whitman College.

I knew Gretchen and Dick as we were residents at Golden West. Gretchen was a kind and lovely person as was her husband. They are sorely missed by all the residents.

I worked with Gretchen at Boulder Community Hospital for many years. I reconnected with her after her retirement when she knitted red caps for the hospital newborns. She was a wonderful woman. I was honored to know her.

Gretchen was a dear and supportive friend. She was very active in CPT and various ministries at Boulder Mennonite Church. She strove hard to make the world a better place. She was a very loving friend and supportive person to many. I hope and pray that she and Dick are living together in love and peace and completely healed. My deepest sympathies go out to her son Alex and his family and to Rich and his family.

Our deepest sympathy, May your good memories comfort you. She was a beautiful woman who reached out to us after discovering we shared the same last name as her maiden name at our daughter´s graduation. We loved her gentle and generous spirit. Our sincere condolences.
