Harry Higgs Obituary

Harry Higgs Jr. was born on October 3, 1961, the third child of Harry Tharel and Marjorie Ann Morris. He enjoyed life to the very fullest until his death on October 14, 2015 as the result of cancer. He was the husband of Karla DeAnne (Burnett) with whom he had a son, Harry Tharel Higgs III. He was born in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated in 1979 from Central High School after many years of playing football and baseball. He enjoyed sports and was an all-around athlete. In 1982 he moved with his sister, Lisa, and her husband, Randy, to Colorado. He enjoyed the friendly people, the weather and the mountains so much he never moved back to Illinois. He married Karla in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 21, 1992. They resided in Boulder until they moved to Loveland in 1993 and then to Berthoud in 2014. Their son, Harry III, was born on June 30, 1995. Harry spent his free time playing men's softball and attending sporting events. He also loved fishing and playing horseshoes, especially the annual fishing trip with his softball teammates. He was a 20 year CU Buffs season ticket holder. Tailgating on campus and enjoying the crowd that always gathered at his truck. Born in Illinois, Harry was a true Chicago Bears fan; Chicago Blackhawks fan and a Chicago Bulls fan his entire life. His loyalty never faltered. Anyone that knew Harry could tell this from the colorful shirts and hats he always wore to support his teams. His favorite baseball team was the St. Louis Cardinals; he learned this from his father who took him to games in St. Louis. Harry enjoyed a career in data base management and worked for several local companies, even owning his own company at one time. His last employer, Wiland Inc., was a wonderful and generous company where he loved going to work and received so much love and support in his final days. Harry had a personality that drew people to him. He was a simple honest loving man of integrity and will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. He is gone too soon. In addition to his wife Karla and son Harry III, Harry is survived by his mother, Marjorie Higgs, sister Lisa (Higgs) Mercer, brother-in-law Randy Mercer, sister Trina (Higgs) Coyle, brother Tim Higgs and companion Vikki Williams, his aunt Judy Fromknecht, aunt Debbie Kircher, uncle Ray Morris, aunt Nancy Morris and his many cousins, nieces and nephews and one great niece. In heaven he will join his father, Harry, his uncle, Ron Fromknecht, his father-in-law Karl Burnett and his grandparents. Harry's many friends are invited to his memorial service at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church on October 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Loveland, Colorado. A reception will follow at the church. Those wishing to honor Harry are encouraged to make a donation to Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado. Go to www.viegutfuneralhome.com for condolences.

We were preparing our CU Football parking rooster for the 2016 season and just learned of this VERY Sad news, and our hearts are very heavy as we take in this news. Harry was a long time tailgater here at Wesley and his enthusiastic presence here will be Missed so Very much. We will be putting up a memorial for him in the garden spot that is right next his longtime parking spot, so that his love of the game and spirit will be remembered and continue to support the CU Buffs.
Sending loving prayers to family and friends.

There were a lot of cool things about Harry but what I found most amazing was his ability to balance family, friends, work, and leisure - few can do all well but he did.
