James Shaffer Obituary

James "Jim" Patrick Shaffer, 91, longtime Lafayette resident and business owner, died November 2, 2015, after an extended illness. The oldest of five children, Jim was born to Martha Esther and John Shaffer on December 15, 1923, in Havelock, Iowa. Jim served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. When he returned home, he married Rosemary Kelleher in Omaha, Nebraska. Jim and Rosie moved to Lafayette in 1954 and together ran the Scientific Cleaners until their retirement in 1995. Jim was a huge fan of the Colorado Buffaloes, and served the community of Lafayette on many levels. Rosie, two sisters and a brother precede Jim in death. Surviving family include his sister Alice of Pocahontas, Iowa, and his three children Jean, Nick, and Ann. Services are private. I just learned of Mr. Shaffer's passing and wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you. My Dad has been gone 14 years and I think of him every day, so I know this isn't easy. Your Dad, Mom and family were such a part of our lives growing up in Lafayette!
