As we always called him, Coach Mac, he was an exceptional individual, an exceptional athlete, and an exceptional mentor. I had the gift of being coached by him and Mike Stanley, in 1981 to 1982 when I came to Fairview high school from, Ohio. I earned the right to be captain of the team with Pat Doyle, and I made some of the best friends I could“ve wished for during that year. Mac was one of them, always giving me guidance, always pushing me, and always correcting me when I said something profane , and a very nice guiding way I was young, and I was sad to hear that he had passed, but he lives on in our memories and in our lives, and I still today tell my children about my experience with Coach Mac and Coach Stanley. Memories allow all of us to live on. he was special.

Coach, you will be missed. You always had a ready smile for me from freshman PE to racket sports and weightlifting. And I enjoyed running into you around town in the interim. class of 2003

Class of 86- Coach Mac is one of those coaches that I am sure left lifelong memories for so many! I had the pleasure of attending Fairview along side his son Dean. The two of them were inseparable and so alike. I am so sorry to hear of coach Mac passing. His family is in my prayers. ~ Amy Lanam (now Amy Oliver)

What a loss - Coach Mac was such a kind and gentle soul. Always there when you needed to talk and give you a smile.

So sorry to hear of Coach Mac's passing. He was a great coach and fun to be with. I had the privilege of being able to travel with the team, as a "Mod Squad" stat member my senior year. Condolences to the family. He left a great legacy with the wrestling program at Fairview. Susan Hoagland Gerrard, class of 1973.
