Joseph Anthony Moresi Jr.

1926-2013 WILLIAMSTOWN Mr. Joseph Anthony Moresi Jr., 86 of 225 Longview Terrace Williamstown, died peacefully with his wife and other family members at his side on Thursday January 17, 2013 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, Conn.

He was born in North Adams, on March 31, 1926, son of Joseph A. Moresi Sr. and Lena (Fachini) Moresi. He attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1943. Joe was a cum laude graduate of St. Michael's College with the class of 1950.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the US Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater. He also studied at the University of Maine at Orono. Joe served from June 16, 1944 until his honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant on May 15, 1946.

Joe joined the Sprague Electric Co. in 1950. During his 27-yr tenure at its North Adams plant he served as Worldwide Product Engineering Manager for Aluminum, Electrolytics and Capacitors, travelling extensively around the world to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Scotland, Germany and Milan. In 1977, he transferred to its Clinton, Tennessee plant where he oversaw plant operations as general manager. While there, he was awarded 2 US Patents and 12 citations in capacitor assembly and sealed flat electrolytic capacitor and method. He was last employed as general manager at its Hillsville, Virginia plant until 1988, when he retired and returned to Williamstown.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Joe was a member of the North Adams Sons of Italy where he served on its realty trust. He was a life member of the North Adams Elks; a member of American Legion Post #125 and the Sprague Management Club. He served as the chairman of the Board of Registrars for the city of North Adams. Joe enjoyed golf and was a member of the Taconic Golf Club. He also enjoyed travel and cooking. Joe also enjoyed sports and followed many of the local teams. Joe was a devoted and loving husband and a generous, kind, and loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, the former Frances S. Faustini whom he married on June 30, 1951.

He leaves four children; Russell J. Moresi and his wife, Robin of Torrington, Conn.; Nancy Scerbo, and her husband, Robert of Williamstown; Laurie DesRosier and her husband, Thomas of Boston; and Dr. Peter Moresi and his wife, Kristy of Roswell, Ga., eight grandchildren; Kristin Moresi, and her husband, Bryan; Peter Scerbo, and his wife, Justine; David DesRosier; Heather Moresi; Jaclyn Kaster, and her husband, Chris; Angela Scerbo; Joseph A. Moresi; and Maddalena Moresi. He also leaves a great grandson; Cameron Honiker; one sister- Rose Righi, and her husband, Virgil of North Adams; one brother; Robert Moresi, and his wife, Janice of North Adams, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Joseph Moresi will be Tuesday January 22, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral home are Monday from 3 to 6 p.m.

I was so sorry to read of Joe's passing in the Eagle today. I will always remember Mr Moresi and the young family that lived behind my grandparents when I was a child. They are wonderful memories of a lovely family that remained loyal friends over many, many years.
