Larissa Stoller Obituary

Larissa Katherine Stoller passed away on February 15 in Madison, WI. Larissa was born at Community Hospital in Boulder on April 28, 1983 and grew up in Sunshine Canyon. She leaves behind her husband, Laurence Ocampo of Madison WI, her parents, Bob and Irene Stoller of unincorporated Boulder County, her sister Alessandra Stoller (Casey Binz) of Federal Way, WA her uncle and aunt Peter and Sophia Stoller, her aunt Nancy Stoller of Moorestown NJ, and her cousins Gwendolyn Shaw(John Fernandez), Sam Stoller (Michael Li) and Joe Stoller. She attended Mapleton Elementary School, Choice at Platt Middle School, New Vista High School and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After college, Larissa worked in property management in Chicago where she met her husband Laurence Ocampo. They were married on September 22, 2012 at Altona Grange, west of Longmont. After they married they moved to Madison WI which always reminded Larissa of the Boulder she grew up in but with more trees and less pretentiousness (her words). She especially loved the Wisconsin prairie, became an avid gardener and replaced her lawn with prairie plants. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and in 2016 she was diagnosed with metastasis of the disease and retired from her job. During the next four and a half years she became an accomplished potter and continued her love of gardening with native plants, travel to visit friends and family, camping, kayaking, hiking and observing sandhill cranes even as her disease progressed. She especially liked visiting Astoria Oregon with her sister Alessandra and showing her parents the Wisconsin places she loved. Throughout the good times and the hard times, Laurence was her most important support. She was passionate about art, social justice, the out of doors, and birding. She was known for being kind, loyal, and fun--always up for a nice meal, an adventure, or trip to the hot springs. She loved fashion, encouraging her family to avoid the monotony of bland styles and opt for creativity, color, and cut. No date has been set yet for a memorial service but a memorial bench is planned at Governor Dodge State Park where Larissa and Laurence spent many happy moments together. Donations in her name can be made to the International Crane Foundation (ATT: Gift Processing, PO Box 447 Baraboo, Wisconsin 53913.

Larissa taught me how to Live Strong in a course we took together a few years ago. Her indomitable courage and fierce spirit will live on in all of us.

was so saddened to recently learn of Larissa's passing. I was an avid fan of her pottery, her sweet personality and her kindness. We participated in a few art shows together and I always sought out her booth for a chat with her and Laurence and a chance to pick out things from my favorite local potter. I am so grateful to own a few of her precious pieces and to have known her, if only a little. I will miss her. My sympathy and hugs to all that loved her, Tami Reschke of The Bohemian Bauble.

I met Larissa at the Warner pottery studio. Such a kind, friendly woman, who shared with me her pottery skills. I would love to have gotten to know Larissa better. To her Mom and Dad, I am happy to have met you once, at the studio at Warner Community Center. And to Larry, you are so fortu ate to have shared a life with Larissa. With deepest sympathies, Sue Ela
