Linda Wood Obituary

As a wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Linda Wood leaves a lasting legacy. She has taught us the meaning of love, caring, fun, strength, charity, courage—and the importance of family. She is remembered as a smart, beautiful, elegant woman with a great sense of humor. The love she shared with family and friends, and the love they expressed back is what now provides comfort in her passing. Linda was raised in Colorado and graduated from Fairview High School. Her keen leadership skills were apparent early with her management of the yearbook, being a Paige and even as Queen of the Latin Club. She also worked in kitchens at Boulder restaurants including Nancy's Restaurant and Café Marnie. She exhibited her athleticism through volleyball, softball, and as much skiing as could fit in her schedule. After high school, Linda continued her leadership and athletic activities while earning her bachelor's degree in Biology. It was at San Diego State University that she met the love of her life and future husband, Woody. Woody introduced her to sailing and all things in the ocean, from racing to fishing. Linda and Woody co-founded the Point Loma Yacht Club and stayed involved in it and many other boating associations for decades. After retiring as a research microbiologist, she continued her athletic and leadership activities by taking up golf and running a catering company. Linda and Woody also loved travelling, with many sails to the Channel Islands, cruises to Mexico, drives across America, and adventures in Hawaii, the Bahamas, and throughout Europe. Linda is survived by her husband Woody; parents Alice and Don; sisters Pam (Ted), Wendy (Frank) and Kelly (Charlie); nieces Aja (Nathan), Ash, Josie and Cody (Kevin), and nephew Andrew (Emily). She is preceded in death by her sister Sherry and nephew James. A Celebration of Life will be held on a future date in San Diego.

I knew Linda a very long time ago (when in elementary & junior high) - she lived down the street from us. Like Don Boselli - I remember her kindness and her athleticism (Ok- I know that only from her jumping on her family's trampoline!). Also - she or her older sister Pam occasionally baby-sat us. The memory of our kid-focussed neighborhood & her role in it is still with me after more than 40 years.

I've posted a link to this page on the Fairview High School class of 78 Facebook page so that her classmates have a chance to know of her passing.

Linda was so kind. I lived across the street from her from 8th grade to graduating at Fairview. I was quiet and did not have many friends. Linda was a sunshine in my life though those tough years. I think this picture shows it all. A very popular student and a very shy student. Linda gave her time and love to all the neighbors. I am saddened by the news. May she Rest In Peace in heaven.
