Mark Gutierrez Obituary

Mark Gutierrez passed from this world on Thursday, November 20th after a long battle with cancer. He was 58 years old. Mark was a gifted builder of homes who put old school charm and craftsmanship into everything he created. He was a brilliant painter who created breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and many other things. He was a lover of all living creatures and had a special affinity with the sharp shinned hawk who visited him frequently in his last year. Mark was a keen and unflinching observer of human nature which made him unbelievably funny. No one whose life he touched is left without an enduring love of him. He leaves behind a son, Kyle, a partner Tamara, and their beloved dog Finnie. Also, his father Bob, sister Susan, brothers Rick and David, nieces Cassie and Sathya and nephew Paul. Please come to the Cannon Coffee Mine, 210 S. Public Rd, Lafayette, CO 80026, this Sunday, November 23rd at 2:00 to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please send a card with your best memory of Mark to Susan Kandyba, 2590 Agate Road, Boulder, 80304.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I was saddened to hear of Mark's passing (Ellen called this week-end). Though perhaps not unexpected, I know that it has cast a pall over the holiday season. As time goes by and the pain of loss begins to subside, I believe that most of your memories concerning Mark's life will be the pleasant ones that you can share with family or just chuckle to yourself when you're alone with your thoughts.

I remember Mark from my HS days & cruising Main st. in Longmont on Friday nights. I remember him as a kind soul with a great sense of humor & a great smile .... RIP Mark ... peace to you and your family

My friend Mark,
I knew you since grade school. You always made me laugh. I couldn't hear your name without recalling some episode of awfulness we were involved in. You demonstrated how to launch grasshoppers into space with nothing more than a couple of pop-bottle rockets and a hell of a lot of evil laughter. You didn't cuss me when I crashed your brand-new mo-ped into the fence. You laughed hilaroiusly when I lost a piece of my finger trying to help you put the engine into the frame of your motorcycle. I remember how upset you were when Doug Barnica shot the meadowlark with his pellet gun. I failed terribly not remaning in touch with you when you gave me so much when we were kids. There are so many memories I can't list here. You shared your home and your table with me. I'm quite sure you, Gary and I were the main cause of your Mom's grief and frustration....well, maybe not you.
I 've failed terribly not staying in touch after all this time. I wish I would have visited and see you and tell you how much I love you my friend. I am much less with you gone.

I knew Mark too. We went to High School together. We shared an affinity for art and muscle cars. my sister went to school with his brother Rick.

Mark was very intelligent and had quick wit and a great sense of humor.

My prayers go out to his family and those closest to him.

I knew Mark for a really long time. It was back in the Hi-lo days that we became really good friends. He was one of the best dancers I have ever known. He has always been on my list of people to see when I come to Boulder. Sadly, it has been a couple of years since I have seen him. My thoughts, prayers, and wishes go out to his family. Wish I could be there to celebrate his life with all of you.
