Milton Bruckner

Milt Bruckner of Longmont, Colorado, passed away on Monday, 14 November 2022, just two weeks shy of his 84th birthday. He is survived by the love of his life and best friend for more than 55 years, Hobie; his loving son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kristen Bruckner; his adored grandchildren, Ryan, Sasha and Travis Bruckner; his cherished sister, Frances Eichler; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Patricia and Harry Bruckner. Milt was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, the University of Maryland and completed some graduate studies at George Washington University. Milt had a stellar 42-year career as a Russian linguist. The first five years were sent in the U.S. Air Force and the remaining 37 years at the National Security Agency (NSA). He loved languages as evidenced by the fact that he learned Azeri, the language of Azerbaijan, and also dabbled in Turkish and Spanish. Milt was a voracious reader of mostly non-fiction and was never without at least two books. He loved softball and golf and played both well into his 70s. Milt and Hobie loved to travel and packed their bags as soon as the retired. They loved Rockies Spring Training, many music festivals, travels in Europe and especially their trips to more than half of the republics of the former Soviet Union. But far and away, Milt unconditionally loved and was so proud of his son, daughter-in-law and his three grandchildren. He tried never to miss anything the kids were involved in, be it sports or awards or band concerts or just the joy of being with them. He also shared with them his sense of adventure and never turned down a chance to go fishing or even to ride Space Mountain with his kids. We will miss Milt's wise counsel, his sense of humor, his creativity and more than anything else, his love of family.
