Nancy Cateora Obituary

October 7, 2023. Nancy, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and indelible memories. Born on May 31, 1932, Nancy was the cherished sister to Robert Windham, Susan Branigan and Ellen Denton. She earned her BA in Anthropology from Mexico City College, where she met her husband of 68 years, Philip Cateora. Together they raised 3 children Deborah (Rick) Cateora, Phyllis Watson and Hank (Gail) Cateora in Boulder, Colorado. She adored and was adored by her grandchildren, Thomas, Maggie, and Angela. A culinary enthusiast, Nancy and her dear friend Sheryl Kempel, co-authored the Colorado Cookbook, a charitable endeavor that supported many services like Reading for the Blind at Norlin Library at the University of Colorado. Nancy also edited international marketing textbooks for her husband. Nancy embraced life with a passion for skiing, hiking, and even running in the Bolder Boulder. Her love of language and obscure words will not be forgotten by her children and their childhood friends. After Philip's retirement from the University of Colorado, they relocated to Portland, OR where they continued to travel throughout the world and embrace the beauty of Oregon. A private service in celebration of Nancy's life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Wilsonville, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, contributions to OHSU Brain Institute Research would be appreciated (https://give.ohsufoundation.org).

We are so sad to learn of Nancy's passing. We shared many wine dinners and good times in Boulder with your Mom and Dad, the Kuepels and the Habenichts. Nancy was lovely, talented and kind and she will be so very missed.
With sincere sympathy to your families
