Nancy Payne Obituary

Nancy Payne, 85, of Sarasota Florida, passed away on January 18, 2017. A memorial service will be held at the Sunnyside Village Chapel on Monday January 30, 2017 at 2:00pm. She will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico, along with the ashes of her husband, Jack Payne, who preceded her in death. Nancy was born in Lafayette, IN on December 29, 1931. She graduated from Marywood School in Chicago Illinois, and attended Northwestern University. She worked as a TWA stewardess in the early 1950's, based in Chicago, and met her husband Jack when he was a passenger on a flight. They married in May 1956 and celebrated 48 years together before Jack's death in 2004. Nancy enjoyed golfing, knitting, playing bridge, and cooking for a crowd. She made fast friends by her wicked sense of humor. While living in Boulder, CO, she worked for years in a tropical plant store and a florist's. Nancy is survived by her daughters Barb Williams and Betsy Payne, their spouses Randy Williams and Jeff Hayas, grandchildren Aurora and Zack Williams, brothers Don and Jim Woodlock, sister Judy Kalman, two sister-in-laws, beloved nieces and nephews, dear friends Frank and Lou Clark, and friends from the Boulder Country Club in Boulder CO, Bent Tree Estates in Sarasota, and Sunnyside Village in Sarasota. She loved her friends and family fiercely, and was fiercely loved. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Tidewell Hospice.

Godspeed my friend.

We met in heart rehab and have corresponded with email these years since, sharing many stories jokes and haven't seen each other since.
I enjoyed her friendship and thoughts. My condolences to her family and friends. I will miss her.
