Shirley Garvin Obituary

Shirley Lou (Stalker) Garvin, 87, of Longmont, CO went into the arms of Jesus on November 23, 2021. What she would want you to know most of all is that she was a daughter and follower of Jesus and if your heart isn't right with him, please think about considering a relationship with Him. Shirley was born in Butler County, PA on May 6, 1934 to the late Lewis and Elizabeth (Gibson) Stalker. A 1952 graduate of Concord High School (Hooker, PA), she married Clifton Garvin in 1954; they divorced in 1989. She has lived in the Boulder and Longmont, CO area since 1961. Shirley was a master tailor and seamstress, and worked at several businesses in Boulder for 35 years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church (now Grace Commons) in Boulder, CO. She loved serving the Lord and was involved in Bible Study Fellowship, Boulder County Respite Care, and Silver Threads. An avid horseback rider, Shirley spent many years on horseback exploring the Colorado many never get to see. She was active in the formation of the Boulder County Horseman's Association, and was a participant in multiple horse aided rescues in the mountains. Shirley loved her family, friends, gardening, Native American arts and the mountains; the many horses and dogs she had over the years were very special to her. Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, her sister Patricia Ward, brother-in-law Richard Ward, and sister-in-law Shirley Stalker. Surviving are her brothers Richard Stalker of Lititz, PA, and John Stalker and wife Rosemary of Harrisville, PA; her nieces and nephews, Marsha Bischel, husband Wesley and their son Samuel of Lancaster, PA, Christina Huffman, husband Randy and their family of Longmont, CO, Paul Stalker and wife Maureen of Grove City, PA, Robert Stalker, wife Sharon and their family of Stoneboro, PA, Roger Stalker, wife Lisa and their family of Danbury, CT, and Larry Stalker of Harrisville, PA. There will be no services at this time per the request of the family. While Shirley loved flowers, she had a lifelong calling to help those in need. Therefore, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Life Outreach International, PO Box 982000, Fort Worth, TX 76182-8000 or Jewish Voice, PO Box 31998, Phoenix AZ 85046-1998.
