Dr. Stiers, was the most wonderful minister at Old Greenwich Congregational Church. He performed many weddings and a funeral for our family. My mother worked at the church. I have so many fond memories of the Stier family. All my best to them, Wendy Jones Gay

Tom Stiers (and Brenda) were an important part of our lives. Tom was my room mate during our first year at Union. Tom and Brenda introduced me to Janet T. who would become my life. We followed each other's careers as they moved from New Haven to East Greenwich to the Riverside Church and eventually to Boulder. He had a significant ministry and was a good friend.

Tom Stiers was a huge part of our lives throughout our religious education, all occasions of life celebrations, comforter in our grief and most of all a true and loyal friend! He will always hold a special place in my heart and in heaven. Fly high my friend.

It is with great sadness I acknowledge the passing of the Rev. Thomas Stiers and remember Brenda as well. They were very special people in my life and worship starting in 1969 at North Haven Connecticut, and continuing through Colorado, as a pastor and special friend. They will be missed for the rest of my life and my family's.

I am so blessed that I got to know Tom and Judy while living at Frasier Meadows. Their love was a joy to behold. I enjoyed working with Tom on a committee. Judy, I am holding you in the light and encourage you to reach out to me whenever you wish.

We met Tom & Brenda in Corning, NY 60 years ago. My wife and Brenda had adjoining appointments at the OB's office. Our friendship lasted through the years until now. Saddened when Brenda passed. Celebrated when Tom & Judy found each other. Will miss my "brother" Tom dearly.

Gretchen and Heather and all the family .... You are in our thoughts as we all move thru this grief. Tom was special in so many ways and between your mother and him, friends across the country and indeed, the world will want to share in this sad news so we hope that you will consider putting a memorial column in the NYTimes for all those in the country who knew your parents. In love and memory of good times together in OG/Riv., Sue & Stu

Dear Friends, I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of my dear friend ad colleague Tom Stiers. I had know Tom since the 1980s I served as Chaplain of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and he was pastor of First Church in Greenwich. Our paths crossed again at Riverside Church in New York City while he served as interim senior minister and I as minister of education, ecumenical and interfaith relations. He was a friend and trusted mentor. Our loss is heaven's gain.
