Tim March Obituary

Tim March died of natural causes on December 11 at the age of 75. Tim was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on September 28, 1948 and grew up in Shelburne Falls, Holyoke and South Hadley, MA. He attended prep school at Bridgeton Academy in Bridgeton Maine for one year after high school. An avid skier growing up, Tim enrolled in CU Boulder in September 1967, so he could go to "ski country." It was there that he met many life-long friends and his future wife Carol in the dorms at Kittredge. Tim and Carol married in Allenspark, CO on August 19, 1972. Tim worked various construction jobs and Carol had a job at Paddock Publishing (the commercial printing offshoot of the original Daily Camera) located at 1115 Pearl. They had the opportunity to purchase the business and on April 1, 1974, they bought it and renamed it March Press. Knowing nothing about printing, Tim, Carol and their friends Bob & Judi Stoker became co-owners, quickly learned the business and operated this thriving commercial printing company for 20 years, 10 of them on the Pearl Street Mall. For the first three years, Pearl Street was not the mall that it is today - it was just a street. They were there when the mall was completed in August, 1977. After 20 years, Tim & Carol sold their share of March Press to their business partners. Tim then started a printing-related business called Reliance Trade Bindery. In August, 2001, he sold that business to two employees. At that time, Tim started the next phase of his life which was working with Carol in her CPA firm. He also bought, renovated and sold some properties in Boulder and Berthoud. He still maintained properties in Western Massachusetts, Cape Cod and Granby, Colorado that he worked on tirelessly and loved so much. Tim and Carol lived in the same house near Chautauqua Park for 44 years and their three kids attended Flatirons Elementary, Baseline Jr High, Manhattan Middle School, Boulder High and CU. Kelly, Alex (Kristina) and Amanda (Scott) were so close to him. His 4 grandsons (Caleb, Alfie, Miles and Charlie) were quickly becoming the lights of his life. Tim loved "old" Boulder. Everyone who knew him was amazed and inspired by his energy and abilities, his sense of humor and infectious laugh. He was a friend to everyone. His favorite things over the years were the Bolder Boulder, his kids' sporting events, hiking, the Boulder Creek Path, and now his growing family. Tim is survived by his wife Carol, his children and grandchildren, his Mom Milly March of Shelburne Falls, MA, sister Debbie (Doug) also from MA, brother-in-law Bob (Amy) in Oregon and niece Danielle and nephew Doug. The family is planning a memorial in the spring. In lieu of flowers, you could make a gift to Mass Audubon, Tim's favorite charity or to your own: Mass Audubon, 291 State Highway, Route 6, South Wellfleet, MA 02633

Dear Carol and Family,
We so enjoyed parties with Tim and his way of telling stories interrupting himself with his own particular way of giggling. He always made us smile. We will miss him. Best, Tonda and Ken
