William Wolvington Obituary

Longtime Boulder resident and businessman William W. Wolvington passed away January 4, 2022 at the age of 74. Bill, as he has known by his friends and family, was the owner of the Outback Saloon sports bar for over 30 years. Bill was beloved by his patrons and family as he gave generously to those around him. Bill was born and raised in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He graduated with an accounting degree from the National College of Business in Rapid City. Bill, and his then wife Linda, moved to Boulder, Colorado in December of 1970, where he went to work for the accounting firm Rhode, Titchenal, and Liston for several years before starting his own accounting practice. He participated in the Boulder Jaycees, including serving a term as president. He later established the Outback Saloon in April of 1992, creating an iconic, sports and Karaoke bar in Boulder. Bill is survived by his three children, Kristin Dierdorff of Spokane, Washington, Marcus Wolvington of Boulder, Matthew Wolvington of Longmont, and his seven grandchildren, David, Phoebe, Ruth, and Daniel Dierdorff of Spokane, WA, Hannah Dierdorff of Charlottesville, VA, and Dylan and Weston Wolvington of Longmont, CO. A memorial will be held Saturday, January 29, 2:00 pm, at Peace Lutheran Church, 2790 Jay Rd., Boulder, with a reception to follow at The Outback Saloon. The memorial will also be available to livestream on YouTube: https://youtu.be/3ENa8y7Kpco

Bill and his Outback served as a gathering place for several Boulder Jaycee members' birthdays. With his easy smile and humble demeanor, Bill was everybody's friend.
