Funeral services for Jimmie Walker Bates, 86, of Corinth are set for 2 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel. Interment will be Saturday, October 11, 2025, at noon in Anderson Bend Cemetery in Centerville/Duck River, Tenn. Visitation will be Friday, October 10, 2025, from noon to service time at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel. Bro. Bobby Kirk and Bro. Robert Jackson will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Bo Bates, Jason Bates, Nick Mills, Tyler Mills, Brett Collins and Greg Miller.
Born September 10, 1939, in Centerville, Tenn., Mr. Bates passed from this life on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He pastored Chester Community Church in Spokane, Wash. for many years. He and his partner, Bob Cox, owned and operated their own real estate office for many years. He retired 17 years ago to Corinth. He loved spending time with his family. He developed numerous friends and loved studying the Bible. Jimmie participated in weekly Bible studies in Corinth. He was an avid reader. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Jimmie is survived by his sons, Mike Mills (Lynn), Jeff Mills (Sue) and Dan Finley; his daughters, Marlene Sproul (Ralph) and Monica Finley (George); grandchildren, Tyler Mills (Lisa), Nicholas Mills, Kelsey Pattison (Zach), Cortney St. Martin and Tiffany Justice; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Larry Bates; sisters, Barbara Richardson and Elizabeth Antalek; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; close friend and advisor, Kent Berreth; and a host of special friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Bates; parents, Harl and Mattie Bates; son, Norm Mills; daughter, Judy Mills; brothers, Wallace Bates and Jackie Bates and his sister, Sara Marcelles. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Jimmie Walker Bates.
