Funeral services for Jimmy R. Spain, 87, of Corinth, are set for 2 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel with interment in Henry Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Friday, October 31, 2025 from noon to service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Bro. Warren Jones will officiate the service.
Born in Corinth on March 15, 1938, Mr. Spain passed from this life on October 26, 2025 in Ashland, Miss. He always planned to leave this earth in his beloved Mississippi. He loved meeting and talking to anyone, anytime, anywhere, from hanging out at the Visitors Center greeting travelers, the 20+ years he spent volunteering at Mississippi Care Center and Cornerstone nursing home, to ringing the bell for the Salvation Army outside Walmart...he loved people. During his life he lived in Blythesville Arkansas with his dad after his mom died when he was 11. He enlisted in the Army at 19. Later he moved to Chicago, married and had 5 children before permanently returning to Mississippi.
He is a 32nd Degree Mason, a Baptist Minister, hosted a local talk radio show, founded the Corinth/Alcorn County Humane Society and is a member of the Hamasa Shriners Hospital Club.
He continued to live independently for a long time only because he had a wonderful friend and neighbor, Christine Bobo who looked after him at Happy Days apartments. Sadly as time passed, the mental and physical distruction caused by Alzheimers, Dementia, Parkinsons and Diabetes he needed fulltime care. For his last years he has resided at Ashland Health and Rehab where he received the absolute best care from the most loving staff. Gentiva Hospice wonderfully supported him in the end. He will be so greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Antoinette Robles (Mario) and Rosemary Spain; sons, William Spain (Ann), Ronald Spain (Jillian); 11 grandchildren, Mario Robles (Allison), Tabatha Strezo (David), Arthur Robles (Jessica) , Michael Robles (Kelly), Samantha Spain, Daniel Herilhy, Sasha Spain, Beth Ann Spain, Stephanie Spain, Shawn Spain, Jr. and Lukas Spain; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Irene Vickner; close friend, Christine Bobo; other relatives and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Shawn Spain; 2 grandchildren, Manuel Spain and Amanda Spain: father, Joseph Spain; mother, Hattie Keen Spain; brother, David Spain and 2 sisters, Ruby Simms and Ruth Mackey.
