Born on August 15, 1949 to the late Wesley and Beatrice Lancaster Moore, Sybil graduated from Kossuth High School in 1967. A proud graduate of Mississippi University for Women, Sybil earned her degree in Home Economics. She retired after over two decades of service to Fairfax County, VA as a Senior Data Manager in the Office of Child Services. Her professional achievements were paralleled by her passionate involvement in sports, notably as an athlete in basketball.
An avid reader and enthusiastic hiker, Sybil cherished the beauty of the outdoors and used these pursuits as opportunities for personal growth. As a 4-H extension agent, she found great joy in mentoring youth, further exemplifying her desire to foster development and education in others.
Her commitment to service was not confined to her professional life. Sybil was an active military spouse, embodying the resilience and strength required in this role. Throughout the years, she dedicated significant time to volunteer work, most notably with the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, where she worked tirelessly to ensure that children in need had gifts during the Christmas holidays.
Sybil's influence reached into the classroom as a Sunday school teacher and substitute elementary school teacher. Her initiative and warmth were instrumental in shaping the lives of her students, and she took pride in helping individuals achieve their General Educational Development (GED), elevating those she encountered through her kindness and dedication. Her southern heritage was a source of pride for Sybil, informing her values, perspectives, and the way she interacted with the world around her.
Those who had the privilege of knowing her often remarked on her caring nature, her ability to connect with others, and her unyielding spirit of generosity. Sybil leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and an indomitable passion for learning and community engagement. Her contributions will be felt for years to come by the countless lives she touched.
