Barry L. Burkhart, 66, of Scottdale (East Huntingdon Township), passed from Earth to Heaven at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at his residence with his loving family at his side. Barry was born Nov. 29, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Joann (Rath) Burkhart of Scottdale and the late William Burkhart, who passed away on April 14, 2008. He married Holly Beth (King) Burkhart March 29, 2010. Barry was a devoted husband, son, and brother. He graduated from Southmoreland High School, Class of 1974 and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years. He was employed at Toyad, Reboy Construction and Doane Pet Food for many years, was a skilled welder, and was noted as a passionate craftsman. He enjoyed hunting and baseball, but his best moments were spent cheering on the Steelers. Barry will be sadly missed by his loving family, his wife of 11 years, Holly Beth (King) Burkhart and her daughters, Liesl Jeffreys (Rob) and their daughter, Riley and Meagan Lehmann and her daughters, Bronwyn, Alyssa, Sophia, and Anna; his mother, Joann (Rath) Burkhart; his mother-in-law, Shirley King Lynch; his two sisters, Barb Shipley (Bill) of Bullskin Township and Bonnie Elkins (Al) of Mt. Pleasant; his two brothers, Bill Burkhart (Janet) and Brian Burkhart (Lisa), all of Scottdale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING ST., SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Al Thomas officiating. Final resting place will be in Scottdale Cemetery. Prior to the funeral service, full military rites will be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard as they lay to rest one of their beloved members who served faithfully and honorably with them for over 40 years.
