Calvin Joseph "Pap" Bittner Sr., 75, of Mill Run, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at his home. He was born Oct. 22, 1945, in Mill Run, a son of the late David and Helen Shroyer Bittner. Calvin retired from CSX Railroad where he worked as a welder.
He belonged to the Wharton Rod & Gun Club and he enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Calvin was predeceased by his brother, Dwayne Bittner, and his son-in-law, Rick Williams. Calvin will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy 'Kay" Mowry Bittner; his children, Darlene Williams/Kevin Bigham of Normalville, Calvin "Joey"/ Amy Bittner of Lemont Furnace, Tammy/ Craig Nicholson of Ohiopyle, David/Stephanie Bittner of Ohiopyle, Lisa Nicholson of Mill Run; his "best friend," his dog Shelby; his special cousins, Les and Sharon Miller of Mill Run; his 13 grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his step-mother, Dellamae Bittner; his brothers, Freeman/ Doris Bittner, and Charles/ Connie Bittner; his sisters, Janet Smith and Nancy Bittner/ Patrick Cramer; numerous brothers and sisters-inlaw, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will be received Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m., the hour of a funeral service in the MARK C. BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft (724-455-2310) with Pastor Randy Newell officiating.
