Rose Mologne Obituary

Rose Marie Galiardi Mologne passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022. Even in her death, she was concerned more about others than herself and leaves an example for all in grace, humility, optimism, compassion, and service.

Rose truly never met a stranger and had an infectious and sparkling energy and smile. Her bright eyes, ready smile and easy laugh will be greatly missed by the family and friends who were blessed to know her. Rose's faith, generosity of spirit, selflessness and commitment to outreach is the legacy of love she leaves behind.

Rose was born June 27, 1931, in Connellsville. She became a registered dietician after graduating from The Pennsylvania State University in 1953 and completing her internship at The Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she served on the staff from 1954-1957. She returned to Pennsylvania in 1957 to serve as a dietician at the University of Pittsburgh until 1961.

She married her beloved Dr. (Major General) Lewis A. Mologne in June 1960 and began to build her family, which grew to five children and eventually nine grandchildren. She was the most devoted fan at her children's' athletic and educational events, and her gorgeous voice could be singled out in many church choirs.

Volunteer service signified her life. She committed her 45-plus years to several military organizations and to the American Red Cross, from which she received the meritorious Clara Barton Leadership Award. She was a founding member of the Walter Reed Society and served in various volunteer leadership committees for Knollwood Military Retirement Residence and Life Plan Community. Every year, Rose tirelessly volunteered at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and The Mologne House to support wounded veteran social events, and she devoted countless hours to her Catholic Church community and Catholic charities.

Rose is survived by her children and their spouses and nine grandchildren (Lew and Carmen Mologne: Lew, Patrick, and Michael; Tim and Shari Mologne: Natalie Rose and Mitchell; Mike and Nancy Mologne: Matthew and Jack; Mary and Tom McLoughlin; and Amy and Andy Davis: Abby and Drew). She is also survived by her brother Joseph Galiardi and his wife Judy from Cupertino, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband Lew in 1988 and her parents Kathryn and Louis Galiardi and sister Kathryn (Kitty) Galiardi.

April 16, 2022

So sad to hear Rose has passed away. She and her son, Lew, were especially kind to me when my husband, Alan, passed away in 2020. She loved her family above all else and was an inspiration to all the Army doctor's wives when the younger docs were in training.
My heart goes out to you-all and your families during this difficult time. Please know that I am thinking of you.
Love,
Glenna Seyfer
