Emmy Margaret Andersen died at Manor East of St. John's Retirement Village on Saturday, Feb. 4 at age 92.
Mrs. Anderson was born March 16, 1913 to William and Margaret Kruse on a farm outside of Woodland. She had been a Yolo County resident her entire life. She was a 1930 graduate of Woodland High School. For 17 years she was a telephone operator for Pacific Bell and at Woodland Memorial Hospital for three years. She later retired as a operator/dispatcher from Yolo County communications in 1978 after 17 years of service. She was also a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Survivors include Mrs. Andersen's daughter, Paula D. Castles and her husband Donald; her grandchildren, Douglas Castles, Kristin Florek and her husband John, all of Sacramento and Elizabeth Thorpe and her husband Bodie of Stockton; her nieces, Dorthy Eakle of Sacramento and Dolores Bernhardt of Vacaville; and her nephew, Ernest P. Kruse Jr. of Woodland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Paul C. Andersen; her son, William P. Andersen; her parents; her sister, Lena Kruse; her brothers, Hans Peter Kruse and Ernest P. Kruse Sr.; and her sister-in-law, Grace E. Kruse.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Andersen's name be directed to St. John's United Church of Christ, 432 Cleveland St., Woodland, 95695.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St. with Reverend William Schroeder officiating. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
