Fred Damsen died in Woodland Friday, April 11, 2008 at age 92. Mr. Damsen was a lifelong Yolo County resident and was born in Esparto Dec. 10, 1915. He attended Clover Grade School and was a radio operator in the U.S. Army from 1941 - 1945. Mr. Damsen worked on a dairy ranch and farmed west of Yolo. He was the past president of the Karel Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club.
Survivors include Mr. Damsen's sister, Marie Bickford, brother, John Damsen, nieces, Joann Dahl, Marilee Kindelt and Shannon Hardy, nephews, Gary Bickford, John Bickford and Ron Damsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Henry Damsen and brother, Henry Damsen.
The family requests memorials in Mr. Damsen's name be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617 or to the charity of donor's choice.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, April 18 at Monument Hill memorial Park with Pastor Sherer of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
