James Workman Obituary

James (Tiny) Melvin Workman April 12, 1938 - Aug. 30, 2018 Woodland James (Tiny) Melvin Workman, 80, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 30, with his family by his side. James was born on April 12, 1938 in Hayes, KS. James was raised in Kansas by his beloved grandmother. In his adult life he moved to Woodland, where he met his wife, Georgia in 1961. James and Georgia had two sons. Tiny served as a firefighter for the Spring Lake Fire Department and went on to serve as the Commissioner for many years. Tiny was best known for his 50 years as a professional truck driver. Some of his proudest accomplishments were coaching his sons Little League and Babe Ruth teams and serving as the District 6 Commissioner for Babe Ruth. Tiny was a proud member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he served as Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Tiny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgia; two sons, Randy and Rodney, and three grandchildren, Amanda Young (Garett), Ashleh Rychen (Travis), and Brandon Workman. James has three great grandchildren, Izzie, James, and Baylieh, who were his pride and joy. In his final days Jim was blessed with many wonderful caregivers and the family would like to send special thanks to each one of them. Tiny was preceded in death by his grandmother, parents, and his younger brother, Tom Workman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Holy Rosary Catholic School Angel (Scholarship) Fund, Holy Rosary Catholic Church Building Fund, or the Woodland Care Car. There will be a Celebration of Life Mass on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m., at Holy Rosary Church with reception to follow at Holy Rosary Community Center.

Psalms 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
