I enjoyed my association with Joe over the years. He was a very active West Plainfield Fire Department volunteer and a fine person. I am sorry for his loss to your family.

I met Joe in January, 1981 when he was a director with the Yolo County Resource Conservation District and I was a brand new employee with the USDA Soil Conservation Service. I learned a lot about farming in the local area from Joe, and about gravel mining issues. Joe was always very cheerful, and I will always remember the trip that we took over to the Homestake Mine in 1983 to view their restoration projects. He bought me dinner at the Buckhorn in Winters on the way back. I will miss Joe very much.

Joe was a great man who is going to be missed mightily here but who is going to be welcomed in his new home in Heaven. I shall never forget him.
