Michael Gabriel Luna

1957 - 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that Michael "Mike" Gabriel Luna, 66, of Woodland, California, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 29, 2023. Michael was born on February 19, 1957, to Gabriel and Ruby Luna in Inglewood, California. The family resided in Dixon, California for five years before settling in Woodland, California. Michael attended Woodland High School, class of 1975. In 1974, Michael joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Ord, in Seaside, California. Michael was married to his high school sweetheart, Penny Combs. The family had a daughter, Michelle and the two were expecting their second daughter, Melissa when they moved back to Woodland. Michael became a truck driver and drove as an owner operator for Luna Trucking. He later worked in the warehouse industry. In 1987, Michael married Denise Allenbaugh of Winters, California. Together the two had three children, Amanda, Joshua and Joseph. In 1996, Michael was married a final time to Joy Valencia of Woodland, California. In 2017, Michael medically retired and enjoyed spending his time with his family, listening to classic rock music and rebuilding various project bikes. Michael was known for his generosity and would always lend a helping hand to those in need. Michael will be remembered for his love of classic rock music, Harley Davidson motorcycles and immense love for his family. Michael is survived by his children, Michelle Amen (Jeff), Melissa Vega (Luis), Amanda Luna, Joshua Luna (Chrystal), and Joseph Luna; his mother, Ruby Luna; and his sister, Julie Munoz (George); nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Gabriel Luna; grandparents, Thomas and Antonisa Luna of Sinaloa, Mexico and Sparkley and Marie Rutledge of Dixon, California. A visitation will be held on July 20, 2023, from 5-8 pm at the Woodland Funeral Chapel located at 305 Cottonwood Street, in Woodland, California.The funeral service will be held at the Family Worship Center located at 386 W. Beamer Street, in Woodland, California on July 21, 2023, at 9:30 am. The burial will follow at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery located at 5810 Midway Road, in Dixon California. A celebration of life will immediately follow the burial at the Family Worship Center.
