Millie was born the second of six children in Biloxi, Mississippi to Daniel and Mildred Ellzey. She and a brother moved to California upon her completion of high school in June of 1939, and were followed by her widowed mother and three younger siblings in September. In Oakland, CA she met and married Roy Rummel and they moved their young family to Woodland in 1952.
Millie began her work in Woodland at the Nugget Market as a Meat Wrapper in 1953 and retired in 1979. Many will remember her easy-going charm, her generosity and open hospitality to all and her willingness to help in most any situation. Her always-on smile and positive attitude affected many. Her loves were family, sewing, gardening and reading. A special treat was anytime that extended family members gathered to enjoy potluck and laughter.
After their retirement, she and Roy moved to Merry Mountain Village where they had built a home and they spent 20 years just enjoying life, hosting family gatherings, traveling to see the U.S. and camping weekends with the Woodland Tail-Enders.
In late 2000 they moved back to Woodland to be closer to family and medical care. In 2006 they moved to St. John's Retirement Village.
She was preceded in death by Roy, her husband of 65 years, in July 2006, three brothers and a sister. Survivors include their daughter Shirley England and her husband Lee, son Terry Rummel and wife Susie, and seven grandchildren, Dori, Kris, Adam, Robb, Ritch, Rodd and Lisa, five great-grandchildren and her sister, Elaine Fisher.
At her request, no services will be held. A family get-together will be held after her ashes and Roy's are scattered together where they enjoyed so many times as a young family and then again later in life with granddaughter, Dori.
Remembrances requested are to hug the ones you love as often as possible.
McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

As Millie's son-in-law, I always felt like a son. She was truly a lady to be admired and I will miss her a lot. The third picture in the Photo Album shows her lifetime smile and positive attitude. I'm glad that I knew her and Roy.

Dear Grandma,
I miss you! But I sure do love all the moments that you've whispered in my heart or through the cow bell chimes... they've made the missing you a little easier. Thank you. Give Grandpa a hug for me! I love you both!

I was sorry to hear of the passing of "Millie", but know she, and "Roy" are together again. The long love affair continues. I extend my sympathy to all the family.

I am saddened by the loss of my "mom", but sooooo fortunate to have experienced the complete generousity and southern kindness she shared with everyone. I learned so much from her - I will forever be grateful.

Millie always had her smile showing!
