Alan Tyler Obituary

Alan J. Tyler BLOOMINGTON- Alan J. Tyler passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2016 at Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus after a long illness. He was 70 years of age. He was born on Feb. 18, 1946 to John B. and Grace Tyler who predeceased him. Alan was a life long area resident. His true passion for over 50 years was helping the community with his involvement in the Fire Department. He held many offices on the local, county and state levels including Deputy Chief, Fire Marshall and Deputy Fire Coordinator. Alan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary, two daughters, Valerie (Bruce) Ellsworth of Kingston and Colleen (Brian) Phillips of Bloomington. His proudest legacy were his three amazing grandchildren, PFC Tyler Purhamus of Kingston, Cody Tyler Phillips and Katie Elizabeth Phillips, both of Bloomington. He was honored when Tyler and Katie also joined the fire service. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Turner of Stone Ridge and nieces, Renee Oloffson of High Falls and Donna Turner of Shandaken. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Robin Cipolli and brother-in-law Bruce Turner. Services were private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were by the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Alan touched many people in his life. If you would like to honor his memory, please consider making a donation to the Rosendale Food Pantry, P.O. I will really miss you, no matter how sick you were, you always made me smile, you were my friend, and as long as you were around, always felt safe! I met Alan through my employer and it involved the fire service. Alan was always kind and helpful. He was a standup guy who touched my life in a positive way. Peace and prayers to his family in this difficult time. God Bless you all.

When I first began my career at Emergency One Alan provided me with a great deal of support and help. He helped me make connections with many fire departments and he was always available to help me . His kind heart will always be fondly remembered. His sense of humor always made me laugh. God rest his beautiful soul.
