Ann Farber Obituary

Ann Rose Farber SAUGERTIES-Ann Rose Farber, 84, of Simmons St., Saugerties, formerly of Kingston, passed away while in the comforting presence of her family on Thursday, Aug. 2nd, 2018 at The Community Hospice at St. Peters in Albany. Ann was born in Kingston, N.Y. on March 19th, 1934, a daughter of the late Thomas Francis and Catherine Elizabeth (Griffin) Coughlin. For many years she, along with her late husband Jack, owned and operated Farber’s Market in Kingston. Ann was a loving kind soul that had a way of being gracious, loyal, generous and fun to be around without any effort at all. She touched many people through her years in a way that made you feel that you just encountered one of the most selfless, and truly caring human beings you will ever meet. Her zest for life, combined with her vibrant nature, made for a strong independent woman that people wanted to be around, and for some to emulate. Her selflessness knew no bounds, her caring nature was admirable and will be recognized as her legacy. That is not to say that she was all business all the time. Ann’s fun loving nature, and infectious laughter were legendary. A woman that can live on her terms and still maintain all of these fine qualities right to the very end is a very special and inspiring person indeed. Ann Rose Farber was one of a kind and will be remembered as one of the great ones. Ann is survived by her four children, Jeff Farber and Leslie (Steve) Dawson, both of Saugerties, David (Vicky) Farber of Florida, and Kim (Tom) Ortlieb-Devens of Hurley, four sisters, Bernice Lenahan of Lake Katrine, Betty Krum and Mary Senor, both of Florida, and Marlene McCloskey of Virginia, one brother, Jack (Barbara) Coughlin of West Hurley, eight grandchildren, Maxwell Farber, Kylie Dinoris, Paul Dawson, Shane Devens, Thomas Devens, Christian Artist, Joshua Bence and Shannon Ornelas, and two great-grandchildren, Ash Devens and Olivia Piratzky, and sister-in-law, Celia Wellman. Several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many other dear friends also survive. In addition to her parents, Ann is also predeceased by her husband Jack Farber (2002) and siblings, Form, James, and Thomas F. Coughlin Jr., Dolores Katherine Donnelly, and Rita Gorman. Cremation held at Wiltwyck Crematory. The memorial service will be begin 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service, from 3 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Flowers are appreciated. Dear Ann's Family,

My sympathy to you on the loss of wonderful Ann.
I met Ann in the 1960's as she was the Aunt to my good friend Kathy Coughlin. The description of her character in the obituary is the way I remember her. I saw Ann at wonderful events: showers, weddings, baby showers and was always drawn to speaking with her.

I have not seen Ann in decades and wanted you to know I was very fond of her.

May her memory be your blessing.
